Capabilities and app options

Choose what your phone measures. Explore capabilities, sets and settings in Signal Collector 2.0.1.

Availability depends on hardware, permissions and measurement state. Add capabilities as needed; active probes generate test traffic. Port scanning requires LAN scanning, and BLE collaboration requires Bluetooth.

Signal sources

Survey points: Mark where you stand, with a label, photo or voice note
Sensing: Compass, satellite sky and the bearing to the cell
Mobile network: RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, cell and band
Wi-Fi scan: Networks in range, RSSI, channel, width
GNSS and position: Fix, satellites, HDOP, raw measurements
Motion and environment sensors: Accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, light and more
Noise level: Sound level through the microphone, no recording
Bluetooth and BLE: Devices in range, RSSI, maker
Active connection: Which network the phone uses and what it allows

Tests and probes — they transmit

Internet quality: Latency, jitter and throughput to a probe server
Wi-Fi throughput: Connects to your networks in turn and measures each
LAN device scan: ARP, mDNS and SSDP over your Wi-Fi
Port scan: Common ports on each device the LAN scan found
Sound Probe: A tone and the room's response through the microphone
Test sequences: Chain data, video and call tests, run while measuring

Tools and outputs

Bluetooth finder: Walk towards a Bluetooth device by its signal
Wi-Fi finder: Access points around you, band by band, by signal
LAN finder: Devices on this Wi-Fi network, by address
Collaboration over BLE: See colleagues' readings next to you, and be seen
Threshold alerts: Beep, speak or mark a point when a value crosses a line

Sets — a whole scenario at once

Office Wi-Fi map: Wi-Fi signal, connection quality, a marked point per room.
Drive test: Both SIMs, cell handovers, GPS track once a second.
Site survey: Wi-Fi and RTT distance indoors, no GPS, a photo at each point.
Warehouse sensors: BLE temperature and humidity sensors, no pairing.

Measurement history: Return to saved measurements.
History and storage: Manage recording history and storage.
Browse records: Inspect records after the measurement has stopped.
Export: Export a finished measurement or a clip.
Delivery: Check where a measurement has been delivered.

Delivery & live output

Share over Wi-Fi: Manually enable local HTTP sharing, with separate viewer and owner links.
Cloud storage (S3): Configure delivery to an S3-compatible storage destination.
WebDAV: Configure delivery over WebDAV.
SFTP server: Configure delivery to an SFTP server.
Send after stopping: Automatically send finished measurements; requires a configured destination.
Live output: Configure live MQTT output.
Community upload: Choose whether to contribute measurements to the community database.
